After Tsonga lost a five-set thriller to Roger Federer at the Australian Open on Wednesday, the Frenchman was asked why in men’s tennis the top four seeds have been more likely than their female counterparts to reach the semifinals of Grand Slams over the last four or five years. His response has proven controversial among tennis writers and fans: “You know, the girls, they are more unstable emotionally than us,” Tsonga said, according to the transcript posted on the Australian Open’s website. “I’m sure everybody will say it’s true, even the girls.” Tsonga added, “it’s just about hormones and all this stuff. We don’t have all these bad things, so we are physically in a good shape every time, and you are not. That’s it.”

NNNNOOOOOOOO! I liked you, man. I really did.

My first thought was of Tsonga’s asshole compatriot, Gilles Simone (and this is ALWAYS worth linking to because it shows just how damn awesome Australian Open semifinalist Sloane Stephens is).
